Introduction to the Conference

The International Radiation Symposium (IRS) is scheduled to take place from 17-21 June 2024 in Hangzhou, China. This prestigious event is organized by the School of Earth Sciences at Zhejiang University (ZJU), under the supervision of the International Radiation Commission (IRC) of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS). IRS 2024 will provide a comprehensive international platform for presenting and discussing recent research achievements and technological developments in the field of atmospheric radiation.
Renowned senior scientists, young researchers, and students will have a unique opportunity to engage in deep discussions on cutting-edge scientific issues, openly exchange new ideas, and establish friendly collaborations. Participants from around the world will not only share their latest findings in radiation science but also experience the multicultural ambiance of Hangzhou. This city is known for its vibrant digital industry, a harmonious human and natural environment, and its profound historical and cultural heritage.
In addition to the scientific program, participants will have the chance to explore the beauty of Hangzhou. They can go boating on the famous West Lake, visit places of historic interest, and indulge in the local delicacies. This symposium promises to be a wonderful opportunity for researchers and scholars to come together, broaden their knowledge, and forge meaningful connections in a stimulating and enriching environment.

Zhejiang University (ZJU), founded in 1897 and formerly known as Qiushi Academy, is a prestigious national university with a long history. It is directly under the Ministry of Education and is one of the earliest institutions of higher education in China. Since 1938, the university has adopted the motto "Seeking Truth", which has inspired generations of students.

Renowned as the "Cambridge of the East" by British sinologist Dr. Joseph Needham, Zhejiang University has always been one of the most prestigious universities in China, known for its leading academic force. In September 1998, four schools in Hangzhou, namely Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University, and Zhejiang Medical University, merged to establish the current Zhejiang University.

After more than a century of construction and development, the university has become a research and comprehensive institution with a solid foundation, strong academic strength, and distinctive characteristics. It ranks among the top universities in China and has significant influence in the international community. Zhejiang University was one of the first institutions to enter the national "Project 211" and "985 Plan" construction initiatives.

The university has seven campuses, 39 professional schools (departments), one engineering school, two Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institutions, and seven directly affiliated hospitals. It offers 128 undergraduate majors, covering 13 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, art, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, management, and interdisciplinary studies.
